Can the reporting of the news ever be like that famous quote from the old television show Dragnet? “Just the facts.”
Do we, the audience, need the news to be slanted in any direction to be understood? Are we not able to handle the simple straight forward truth of a story being reported on?
I could list story after story that has been reported on lately that I am sure comes to your own mind as I have brought this subject up. Â Are we able to bring about this kind of change to demand that media be accountable?
It is past time that we hold the media accountable. We need to make those phone calls, write those letters and send those emails questioning the media when they go too far, when they slant stories to raise their rating, when they stray from the truth, from the facts. Â There are numerous studies that show a single contact represents about 500 other people’s opinion. With the Internet playing such a vital role in our society, it is easy to check stories that are reported on through a multitude of sources for verification and validity.
Take a stand and demand from those that bring us the news that they tell the truth and not slant stories they report on, that they give equal coverage for stories that need to be reported on. I am not saying we need to become blind activist that end up rushing into a cause that becomes corrupt in the same manner.
Let the truth be told and the coverage be balanced. All news media should live up to the saying one company has, “Fair and Balanced.”
Wouldn’t that be nice?
The news is no longer the “news”. It has morphed into entertainment. They show what “you” want to see at the angle that “you” want to see it.
You could always just read the raw news on the ap wire……
